A remarkable, profound and truly worthwhile book, written with wit and compassion. Insights and experiences gained through working in Nepal, battling cancer and studying Eastern and Western health, psychology and spirituality. If I could keep only a few books, this would be one of them.

Here's another inspirational book. Mark Kingsley's tale is a sprawling journey through life, sickness and triumph of the human spirit. Though it seems confusing when you first begin, it quickly makes its intent clear, drawing in all aspects of Mark's journey through cancer, the Himalayas and his own spirituality. A Himalayan Trinity is divided into three books: The Emotional Room, The Physical Room and the Spiritual Room. Each room plays an encompassing role in the journey as a whole. The Emotional Room deals with Mark's battle against cancer. It is a humorous and compassionate look at how a man deals with the initial shock of diagnosis, the treatment that follows and the effect on his family and friends. Mark's interaction with his wife and children is particularly moving.

The second book is again about interaction. Though it is labeled the Physical Room this time his interaction deals with the Gurkhas and peoples of Nepal. It is a study in culture, friendship and hierarchy and is fascinating reading. The third book, Spirituality is complex, yet fulfilling read. It asks questions of who we are and how we conduct our lives and offers interactive workshops to help us figure out these very questions. Although the author states that it is fine to read each book separately, I would recommend reading the book as a whole to truly get the full picture. This is a rewarding book and well worth taking a look at…

However , I really am writing about your book which I am half way through. I rarely ever read a book these days, with yours being the first book I've bothered to attempt reading in several years. Although I once was a bit of a bookworm I now mainly listen to music........ so perhaps I am metamorphosing into a tape-worm!

Although only half way through your book, I felt compelled to drop you a line to say how much I am enjoying it. It is an interesting format, with the fascinating account of aspects of your 'journey', eloquently written with a wonderful turn-of-phrase. I commend you on your approach to the seriousness of your illness. You have obviously done a substantial amount of reading and research to tackle this illness from a variety of fronts. But most of all I love your sense of humour. In spite of the gravity of the subject i.e ' the BIG-C ' I find myself constantly chuckling at the account of your-story. I firmly believe that in no small way........ laughter is the best medicine.......... although it would appear to seldom work as the sole remedy for any substantial illness. As such, I daresay it has been your totally positive attitude along with your pragmatic approach that has helped you knock ' the beast ' into submission.

Once again thank you for telling your story. I worked in pediatric oncology for 5 years and was constantly blown-away by the courage of the kids subjected to chemotherapy. As you so correctly summise: there is no fairness in life .............. it is simply a case of ......... what is, is ! ......... and the only thing we can do, is tackle the hurdles that life confronts us with to the best of our ability.

I hope our paths may cross again sometime. In the meantime I wish you well on your journey. Must go........ I've a damn good book to get back to............

It's fabulous ... I have found the book totally fascinating. I can't put it down. I am extremely impressed with the content and your wit. You have had me in fits of laughter and then have proceeded to touch my heart and make me cry on the same page.

I laughed, I cried, I nearly died laughing again and again...I couldn't put it down. A thrilling roll coaster ride of emotions, the ultimate adventure into the heart, mind and soul.

No one tells it as straight as Mark, nor do they have such crafted sharp wit that cuts you to your core with realisation and has you splitting your sides in the face of adversity. This is a book worth reading. The metaphors as deep, rich and diverse as ones life are reflected in every page, each of us have to experience the fear of death and the beauty of living!! No one weaves a tapestry of humanity more beautifully than Mark in his words. What a way to embrace the TRUTH of who you are and discover more about the house that you live in. That's right, what's more rewarding and insightful than a guide book to oneself.

I implore you now; take an awe-inspiring adventure into the 'Himalayas' of your soul. Read this book and you too will conquer the mountains within.

I am now half way through and finding that I am enjoying each section differently. Your work and experiences in Nepal are amazing.

Gosh the amount of stuff you have learned about cancer and treatments. So glad that you did go East and West and that you have weathered the storm… Thank you for sharing your experience and journey. Your writing style is most readable and the content an inspiration.

…I greatly enjoyed Mark's personal story, which was written as three books in one, firstly his youthful journey through the Himalayan Mountain of Nepal back in the early nineties when he was a healthy young man in the service of the British army. Secondly, Mark's reflection of his journey through recovery and remission with Hodgkin's disease (a Lymph Cancer). Finally, tying the experiences of life's learning, together in the third book which is a model for being from survival to meaning in seven levels 'Mark's Personality Mansion'.

Mark uses a number of philosophical and psychological models covering meaning of humanness, psychological type, behaviouralist and humanist motivation theory, and spirituality (including, Descartes, Coelho, Freud, Jung's Personality Types, MBTI, Enneagram, Chakra's, Maslow's Order of Needs, Frankl's Logotherapy and Roger's Self theory, and many others).… they are weaved together exceptionally well and the psychological journey Mark's created, the insights and challenging ideas and impressions on life both physiological and psychological levels are well worth taking a look at ….

I am studying Psychology and found this journey that Mark has written to be a fascinating view on the meaning of life and his motivational model explains how humans can get confused and stuck at particular level of life. However, he has developed a process which can assist an individual through the different levels so that one can experience and enjoy the different levels that make up a whole life.

My name is Kirsty ... I can't wait for the next book…your book was so interesting and you make the reader feel a part of your journey, that is kind of special. You write in a very generous way.

I finished your book recently … I found it a truly fascinating read. After getting to the end of it I now feel like I want to start again so I can absorb more of the detail re: health issues, etc. I am looking forward to the second book, please let me know when it is published.

Stephanie Fergusson – Human Resources Consultant for Global Human Resource Company

I really enjoyed the book.

Judy Mayhew – Human Resources Manager, Australian Mining Company

I am enjoying the book especially the cancer journey (emotional room) and the spiritual room. Both of them are resonating well with me.

Eve B. – a long term sufferer from cancer

In his book Mark relates his four journeys - a physical journey through the Himalayas, an emotional journey dealing with Hodgkin's disease, a spiritual journey through the development of a model for balanced living and a mental journey of writing the book.

It is written with great honesty and humour as well as with a real care and concern for the humanity and our environment. He also discusses in detail his experience with the use of alternative and Eastern therapies to manage Hodgkin's disease.

It is a great read and is divided into 3 books - you can read each one or one at a time - I am now reading it for the second time and highly recommend it. It is a book that will inspire you about how we as human beings can make it against the odds, and also takes you on a spiritual journey through the development of Mark's Personality Mansion - his model for balanced living.

I have to say that ... A Himalayan Trinity is a very interesting read! Whilst it is not a light read it is enjoyable and there are many lighter moments and witty comments. I felt as though I was sharing a personal journey with the author. It also prompted some introspection and self analysis. The book provided lots of learnings in terms of frameworks, medical insights and even cultural differences. I would highly recommend [it].

Veronica Kronouer - Human Resources, Australian Financial Institution

I'm delighted to say that I finished your book last week. It took me about 8 months to do so, so it would be unfair to describe it as a "page-turner". However, it was a fascinating read and, I'm bound to say thought-provoking… I was particularly impressed (if you don't mind me saying) by the breadth of your knowledge. Where on earth did you come across all of the pithy quotations?

Jonathan Morgan - Area Sales Manager, Astra Zeneca

I am thoroughly enjoying your book, a very interesting 'S' account of 'F' & 'N' issues.

Magdalena Lyczewska - Kinesiologist

Great to hear you are so busy and obviously very well. I did forget to mention in my last email how much I enjoyed reading your book - very inspirational.

Kylie Bartlett - CEO Pinnacle Training Solutions - kylie.bartlett@pinnacletraining.com.au

Thoroughly enjoying the book.
